Brockenhurst Railway Station

Just 90 minutes from London, Brockenhurst Railway Station is the gateway to the forest for car free visitors. Cottage Lodge is just a five minutes walk from the station (or a short taxi ride). The station has over 100 trains that stop each day on their way to Poole or Weymouth. Trains come from Manchester, Birmingham, Brighton, Bath (one change), London and many other destinations. You can even get here from the Lake District with just one change. It is one of the best connected village railway stations in the UK.

Once visitors arrive in the forest they can take advantage of a number of car free initiates to get around. In the summer months there are four bus routes that take visitors to the coast, into the forest and across to Southampton. All year round there is bike hire, both from Cottage Lodge hotel itself and from Cycle Experience (situated at the train station). Alternatively it is possible to hire an electric twizy. There is a recharge point at the Cottage Lodge so that you can charge your twizy

Brockenhurst Railway Station is the junction of the Lymington Branch line so all the fast trains stop at Brockenhurst. You can catch the Isle of Wight Ferry from Lymington.

In 2009 Brockenhurst railway station won the National Rail Award and the National Cycling Award. The cycling award was for a system which lets passengers know where the cycle spaces are on approaching trains. This is something organised with the nearby Cycle Experience, a bike hire company.

The station was first opening in June 1847 and shortly afterwards the Lymington branch was opened. In 1858 the Sway line was opened offering onward train services to Bournmouth and Pool. In 2014 the station was completely refurbished including a disabled lift which allows step free access to the platforms.

Brockenhurst station is a vital part of the areas life. It takes commuters up to London, Reading, Southampton, Bournemouth and brings in students from the area to the beautiful Brockenhurst College, a sixth form college of some 3000 students offering a vast range of choices for AS and A2 level students along with significant adult education program.
