The White Tails Restaurant in the Cottage Lodge Hotel offers a seasonal menu created using locally sourced quality ingredients, prepared in a traditional way with generous portion sizes presented beautifully.
The restaurant has been run since November 2018 by Matthew Spenser (chef) and Ramsey Hammad (manager/owner), who you can meet in person when you visit the restaurant. Together they have obtained extraordinary reviews on TripAdvisor.
Matthew, born and raised in the New Forest, started his career in the Savoy Group where he learnt the classical way to preparing food.
He worked in the Michelin Star Blue Sand Restaurant before changing hands to the existing Lime Wood restaurant.
His experience running a pub in Oxford and working in Australia gave him the understanding and direct contact with customers that is reflected in the menu and the way of cooking: simple food for real people.
Ramsey, with more than 26 years’ experience in the catering industry, running restaurants and hotels in the UK and owning and managing a coffee shop in Mexico, understands like nobody else the importance of attention to detail to make the whole experience matter.
He is very proud of the tranquil ambience achieved in the White Tails restaurant that makes this location a great spot for relaxed and enjoyable dinners.
The quirky layout, only 10 handmade wooden tables, tea lights and soft music are just some of the ingredients to create the intimate, peaceful and relaxing atmosphere that you enjoy when dining here.
Along with the spectacular food, are the wines. Ramsey offers a worldwide selection of wines, which complement the food, that are refined in quality but not in price. In fact, the prices of the food and wines are considered “moderate” in comparison with those of the area.
Fancy tasting the real New Forest food? The restaurant opens Tuesdays to Thursdays from 6pm to 8:30pm and Fridays and Saturdays until 9pm.
