What to do before Christmas in The New Forest?

End of November and December are lovely times to stay in the New Forest with plenty of activities to do around us and in close by cities.

Enjoy Winchester  Christmas decorations

Let the train take the strain and ice skate and shop in Winchester’s famous Christmas market (regularly voted best in the country).

Winchester Christmas Market (truly one of my favorites) is truly is a special place to visit in the Christmas period. The market cabins are featured right next to the cathedral and the high street looks fabulous at this time of year. Brockenhurst train station is a direct link and we are only a 5 minute walk to the train station. It’s a must do during your visit to the Forest.

Big Shopping Stores without the crowds

Explore the cozy shops in Winchester,  the malls in Southampton with the largest Marks & Spencer in the region covering 2 floors as well as John Lewis and all the shopping in Bournemouth. All accessible by train or car from the New Forest.

Beaulieu Palace for Christmas

Enjoy the famous Beaulieu Palace illuminated for Christmas. The palace is just a 10 minute drive from us and there are a variety of activities to see and participate as the motor museum, carol singing, fruit punch (and mulled wine) plenty for the children to do and see, old Victorian games, and a real feel for Christmas in the 18th century.

Lymington Christmas Market

Find the perfect gift at Lymington Market: less than 10 minutes away and you could be in the seaside town of Lymington. The Christmas lights are beautiful and this charming Edwardian town has plenty to see and do, Mulled wine to drink and independent shops like no other to see.

The New Forest

In between all the shopping and the caroling you can take a long walk in the New Forest and come back to flop in front of the fire with tea and crumpets in your Christmas jumpers.

Leaving our hotel you can literally walk 5 minutes and you will be in the green and heart of the New Forest. The winter mornings are full of frost and the forest looks absolutely stunning! Highly recommend.

If you are a lover of all things wild, this truly is a spectacular time of year to come to the New Forest. The Robbins on the frosty fences, the horses against the fabulous views, the lovely little donkeys and no doubt the time of year where the rare white deer comes out, apparently they say its good luck to see one!

Spa Days in the forest

Located close to us are two spa’s (Careys Manor and New Park Manor). Both are fabulous and have a real uniqueness about them. Why not walk to one of the spa’s during your stay relax and be pampered and then enjoy dinner at our Hotel restaurant in the evening? Sounds perfect.
