Romantic spring New Forest breaks

Bluebells just 10 mins walk from Cottage Lodge

April is a beautiful time of year to escape the smoke and head to the New Forest National Park. One of the pleasures of the New Forest is its fields of delicate English bluebells undisturbed for hundreds of years. My favourite thing to do at this time of year is to take pictures of the delicate blooms on a bright spring day.

Why not stay in a romantic hand crafted four poster in our hotel and walk from the hotel to the Oak Inn pub at Bank. This walk takes you through open moorland, beautiful ancient forest, past the territory of a herd of red deer, through a beautiful wood with fields of bluebells and up to the Pub. A beautiful walk with constantly changing scenery.

It isn’t just the bluebells you can see in spring. on your Romantic New Forest break Pennington Marshes feature regularly on the BBC’s Springwatch as one of the places to go to watch migrating birds. Birds rest on their way back to breeding grounds on the muddy shores of the marshes. There is a wonderful walk through Lymington along the sea wall to a delicious Pub called the Gun Inn at Keyhaven. A short boat ride from Keyhaven and you are at Hurst Castle, walking the ramparts and keeping an eye out for invaders.

All this adventure its home for tea and cakes in front of the fire in the Snug bar and later dinner in White Tails Restaurant. Chef and owner of the restaurant, Martin Packard is a wonderful chef. He runs the restaurant as his own business and it is now a popular feature of stays at the Cottage Lodge Hotel.
