New Forest Hotel chooses Farrow & Ball
We are transforming reflecting the beautiful New Forest with colour & wallpaper from Farrow & Ball.
As part of our mission to be a 100% sustainable Eco-friendly hotel, we always strive to choose local suppliers. When we started to redecorate, this was no different. We wanted our design to bring the New Forest inside.
At the hotel we have used artisan wood design from fallen New Forest trees Oliver Spendley & have used local trades for the refurbishment of original wooden floors with Splinters flooring.
We have chosen a New Forest colour palette with wallpaper and paint from local experts Farrow & Ball to refurbish our public areas.
The history behind the decor
Farrow & Ball started in Dorset, back in 1946, with local pioneers John Farrow and Richard Ball. Farrow was a trained chemist. In world war II he worked for Ireland’s Agnew Paints Ball was an engineer who survived capture as a prisoner of war.
They met at a local clay pit and together shared a passion for making rich colours to original formulations using only the finest ingredients.
Internationally recognised
The pair built their first factory in Verwood, Dorset, and went on to supply paint for the Ford Motor Company, Raleigh Bicycles, the Admiralty and the War Office.
They relocated to Wimborne in Dorset, following a fire in the 1960’s. This is just under an hour from the hotel.
Farrow & Ball continue to evolve and lead the market with Eco- conscious policies crafting their paint and wallpaper which supplies many heritage properties in the United Kingdom and overseas.
They went green
In January 2010, they made the bold decision to move their entire range of oil based paints to eco-friendly water based finishes with low VOC (volatile organic compounds).
From recyclable paint tins to our responsibly sourced wallpapers, making sure that their paint and paper is as kind as possible to the environment and the people who use them is at the heart of everything they do.
A natural & eco friendly choice for us
This forward thinking move, affirmed their ongoing commitment towards helping the environment we live in, and put them ahead of the competition. This is something that we are 100% committed to at the hotel.
Farrow & Ball with New Forest influences
The climbing floral wallpaper we have picked comes from an adapted silk pattern originally created by the master weaver James Leman.
We chose this unique paint on paper printing method as it brings an almost fabric like tactility to this botanical design and suits our cosy entrance and hallways and the heritage of our hotel.
Mixed with a natural palette of New Forest colours that we have designed to really welcome you into your stay at the hotel.
