July and August are wonderful in the New Forest. The 5000 mares on the 94,000 acre New Forest are health and fat. Some have foals, which gamble and play in the open moorlands.You can walk in the forest and stop by a babbling stream, in landscape barely changed for 1000 years, sipping a cold drink and watching the famous New Forest ponies amble. What could be more peaceful and refreshing?
The forest is dressed in its colours of purples, yellows, pinks and vibrant greens. Birds fly. Butterflies flutter. Rabbits hop. Cattle amble and ponies wander through the beautiful New Forest.
Even at the busiest time of year, walk more than a mile from a car park and you can leave everyone else behind and get yourself lost and find a corner of the forest just for you.
