Dog Walking New Forest
The New Forest is a fantastic place to enjoy dog walking with your canine companion. With routes amongst open forest, heathland, coastal paths and timeless woods you are sure to enjoy beautiful walks and blissful moments with your family pet.
What can we do with our dog?
You can enjoy 94,000 acres of trails and tracks where free roaming cattle, donkeys and ponies graze, deer herds wander and pigs practise pannage.
Ancient commoners rights mean that their livestock live in and off the forest and are effectively left wild. Responsible dog owners are welcomed and asked to keep their dogs under close control or on leads. Please do not get too close to the herds so as to avoid distress or injury to yourselves, other people or animals.
There are many activities in the New Forest and local area that you can enjoy with your dog. From fabulous gardens at Exbury, beaches at Barton on sea and great dog-friendly pubs.
A relaxing break for you and your pet.
We welcome your pet into our dog-friendly hotel rooms. There is a small charge of £10.00 per dog per night. This is because pet -friendly rooms require decorating more often. It is a rare day if any dog causes damage, but sometimes accidents do happen. Should this be the case, please tell us if you or your dog cause any damage so that we may put it right for the next guest.
Book your dog-friendly stay
At the Cottage Lodge we have two dog-friendly hotel rooms with small patios. Your patio garden has access to an outside tap for rinsing muddy paws and has patio furniture to enjoy the outdoors on brighter days. The Morant is bookable as a super-king or set as a twin bed room. The Tom Hayter has a double bed. Both rooms have ensuite bathrooms with a bath with shower over. Great WIFI, smart TV’s and tea and coffee facilities. A small fridge can be pre booked for a small charge if required.
Doggie day-care and overnight options
If you are planning to visit somewhere that doesn’t allow your pet, or if we are fully booked in dog friendly rooms, we can suggest the following solutions. We recommend Sophie’s pet care, a local company who specialise in looking after your beloved pooches when you visit the New Forest.
