Brockenhurst village New Forest

Brockenhurst meaning “badgers home” in Celtic. It is one of the largest villages in the New Forest. Brockenhurst village New Forest is centrally located in the National park and well connected on main travel routes whilst retaining an air of old world charm.

Animals have right of way

A popular destination all year round with walkers, cyclists and nature lovers who visit Brockenhurst village for its unique and quaint setting. Here in Brockenhurst wild horses, donkeys and cattle roam freely through the village on route to graze upon the open New Forest. It is a common occurrence that a traffic jam here is a donkey or pony strolling the high street or stopped for a rest in the middle of the road.

This traditional village has stood the test of time and retains a butchers, a bakers, an ironmongers, a florists and many other speciality shops, restaurants and cafes. There’s a real sense of timelessness in the village but with quirky and modern retailers giving us an eclectic mix to visit and enjoy. During the Covid 19 lockdown the village shops were crucial and maintained the local villagers and surrounds by remaining open and others found ways of serving the community by adapting their usual services.

Once you’ve arrived at Brockenhurst you can forget your car and just stroll. Easy to get around the village and the neighbouring National Park. There are plenty of options for you to explore! Enjoy on foot or by pedal so that you can be eco conscious too!
