A charming little room the Little Alice is one of two bedrooms in the original forester’s cottage constructed in 1650. It is names after Alice Liddle who was the inspiration for Alice in Wonderland and is buried in Lyndhurst church yard. Little Alice is at the front of the building and looks out over the car park to the road where the New Forest animals sometimes walk past.
Internet access is available in two ways: 1. On our computer in the Gillies Restaurant. 2. On your own wireless computer via our router. The signal in the Snug Bar and the Restaurant is Excellent. The Signal in the Knightwood is Fair. We have tried using it. You can get access but a little slower than in the public rooms.
They made people much smaller in the 1650s so the ceiling height in the bedroom is 6ft three ins but becomes tighter in the en-suite. When you step up into the shower the headroom is 6fts. We have tried all sorts of clever ways to increase the headroom but it is tricky in an old building. But we hope the room’s charm and top quality interior sprung mattress makes up for any lack of headroom.
Your room has tv, radio/alarm , tea & coffee, safe and hair dryer.
The New Forest is a beautiful part of Hampshire. The Cottage Lodge Bed and Breakfast in Brockenhurst is situated in the heart of the New Forest Village of Brockenhurst. Ponies and cattle can wander freely throught the village. Watch out for them in the village the ponies have been known to wander into Tescos.
