At the front of this charming New Forest Bed and Breakfast is a Car Park. It isn't a large one. There is an element of compromise, but I don't think the original foresters who built the house ever considered putting 12 cars on the front of the property. Cottage Lodge B&B

The National Park has very strict rules about these things and most professionally run New Forest Hotels and New Forest B&B's are in villages. The Cottage Lodge in Brockenhurst is no exception. We are in the heart of the New Forest village of Brockenhurst. Which is in the heart of the New Forest National Park. This is the outside approach to the Cottage Lodge B&B

A New Forest Breakfast is served at Cottage Lodge B&B. We are delighted to have been involved in the development of this breakfast. We are a member of the New Forest Marque and were one of the first New Forest Accommodation providers to serve this delicious locally sourced breakfast.

We are one of the few New Forest accommodation providers with a breakfast room with two heights to the ceiling. The older part is less than six feet (so be ready to lower your head on the way in. The newer part, further back, adds an extra foot onto the head height. The redeeming feature of this charming beamed breakfast room is that it is East facing so on sunny days it comes streaming in through the windows.

This is the Rhinefield Rooms at the Cottage Lodge New Forest Bed and Breakfast in Brockenhurst. It is a standard room and can be either a twin or a double room. It has a bath with a shower over in the en-suite.

The is the Forester's Master Bedroom at the Cottage Lodge Bed and Breakfast in Brockenhurst New Forest. Again this is a standard room. It is to the front of the buiding. It has a king size bed.

The standard plus rooms are closer to a three star New Forest hotel standard room. They are of a reasonable size but, being a New Forest Cottage there simply isn't the space to make the rooms huge. Brockenhurst is a thriving New Forest village with a plentiful supply of local shops, tea houses, pubs and restaurants all within a few minutes walk of the Cottage Lodge - Brockenhurst's most central B&B. This is the French Patisserie which uses lots of local ingredients in its home made baking. The perfect place to get your picnic before heading off for a good long walk into the New Forest

The Brock and Bruin is a the perfect place to stop for tea and scones, a quick ice cream or a slow hot chocolate. This lovely tea house is less than 200 yards from Cottage Lodge B&B, just around the corner in the heart of Brockenhurst village. PS and it has lots of teddies for sale

Cottage Lodge B&B is just a few minutes walk from the Thatched Cottage. A superb place for a stunning afternoon tea comparable with any smart hotel in London. It also has a lunch snack menu and all day breakfasts. If you sit outside New Forest Ponies have been known to walk right past the low fencing of the tea garden.

There is always a party at Il Palio. This charming restaurant is run by a lovely Italian family and has been delighting customers in its Brockenhurst station home for more than 20 years. Good value. Great fun. Well priced. 300 yards as the crow flies from Cottage Lodge B&B. A New Forest treasure.

Snake Catcher Pub including Martin's Kitchen is everything a pub should be. Good food. Great Garden. Relaxing lounge area. Even a WII and trampoline for the children. Less than five minutes walk from Cottage Lodge. Local produce

This is the largest pub in Brockenhurst, New Forest. It has a wonderful garden. Serves a huge Sunday Roast carvery and is a firm favourite with many Cottage Lodge visitors. Less than 10 minutes walk from Cottage Lodge and just on the edge of the village of Brockenhurst. The Rose and Crown welcome dog owners to bring their dogs right into the restaurant and under the tables. This is a common practise in the New Forest.

Our nearest Restaurant Brookleys. Approx 150 yards from Cottage Lodge B&B. This makes it a favourite watering hole for winter visitors. Brookleys is owned by a superb French chef and has a delightful menu. Mid-week special deals start from £10.50 for two courses.

Simply Poussin is a hidden gem. Just 200 yards from Cottage Lodge and tucked away at the back of the high street. Superb attention to detail. Real pleasure to dine in this charming and well hidden property. French influenced. Mid-week special deals start from £15 for two courses.

St Nicholas is a 1,000 year old Saxon Church just a 15 min walk from Cottage Lodge bed and breakfast in the New Forest village of Brockenhurst

Just a few minutes walk from the Cottage Lodge Bed and Breakfast Brockenhurst New Forest is the Watersplash. A local feature where the stream goes across the road at the bottom of the highstreet.

It is very common to see ponies, cattle and donkeys in the middle of the high street in the village of Brockenhurst.

This is the beautiful church of St Saviours just across the road from the Watersplash. It was built just over 100 years ago by the Walker Munroe family as a gift to the village. There are four busy churches in Brockenhurst including a 1,000 year old Saxon Church St Nicholas

Your New Forest should definately include a trip to Bolderwood to see the Deer being fed. You can often see Deer as you walk through the forest but at Bolderwood the herd are regularly fed by the rangers and so they are used to people and you get a good view. Bolderwood is a good cycle or a pleasant drive from the Cottage Lodge B&B in Brockenhurst

There are many places in the forest that have such level off road walks that they are suitable for wheelchair users.

When you get out into the forest you are on wonderful, level, maintained logging trails. If you want the facts 192 km of flat off road cycling. And, because the New Forest was once under the sea (a very long time ago) the landscape is gently sloping and mostly flat.

Cycling is one of the most rewarding ways to spend your New Forest Holiday. Cycle hire is open all year round. Within a few minutes cycle of Cottage Lodge B&B in Brockenhurst village you can by cycling on open heathland. Within fifteen minutes you can be in the heart of the forest. You can also find a couple of good pubs en-route. What more could you ask of your New Forest Holiday?

In the railway station (five minute walk from Cottage Lodge B&B) you will find bike hire. Here you can take a full or half day hire and explore the forest on 192 KM of off road tracks.

At the other end of the rail carriage is the cycle hire centre. The Rough Guide said that one of the top ten things you should do before you die is cycle in the New Forest. Frankly I agree. The other nine should also include the New Forest: walk, drink, eat..... all in the New Forest on holiday
